How a licence works
- Buy it. The checkout takes your payment and adds the VAT for your country, so you see the final price before you pay. Your licence key arrives by email.
- Enter it. In Clap Studio choose Clap Studio > Enter Licence… and paste the key, or click the link in the email. Each Mac is activated once, online.
- Forget about it. After that the app never checks again and works offline for good. If the licence server is ever down, Macs that are already activated are not affected.
Up to 5 Macs
One licence is for one person, on up to 5 Macs. To free a Mac’s place, choose Deactivate This Mac… in Settings > Licence, or remove it on Manage your Macs when that Mac is gone. Reinstalling macOS on the same Mac uses no extra place. A Mac that never goes online can be activated with a code from another device.
The free edition
The free edition is not a trial: it has no end date and every feature is the same. Its library holds up to 100 files, samples and field recordings together. When it is full, a scan adds nothing more and says how many files were left out; nothing is deleted, hidden or changed. A library that already holds more keeps showing and playing all of it. Remove from Library… makes room again.
Gifts
A licence can be given as a gift: the person you give it to redeems the code and gets a key of their own.

The checkout will be run by a reseller (the merchant of record), who takes the payment, adds VAT, sends the invoice and handles refunds. Which one is not chosen yet, so the buttons on this page do not lead to a checkout yet.
