User guide

Clap Studio organises the samples you already have. Point it at a folder and it listens to every sound in place: nothing is moved, renamed or changed. Everything below happens on your Mac. Help > Clap Studio Help (⌘?) in the app opens this guide.

  1. Getting started: install the app, add your folders, try the demo sounds.
  2. Finding sounds: similar sounds, the map, searching by words or by humming, filters.
  3. Shaping a sound: cues, trims, sound edits, noise reduction and VST 3 effects.
  4. Playing with sounds: the kit builder, the drum machine and the melody.
  5. Field recordings and places: long recordings, the species heard in them, and where they were made.
  6. Squid Salmple: send banks and Pool folders to the ALM Squid Salmple.
  7. Organising your library: favourites, collections, tags, duplicates, exports and joins.
  8. Licence and updates: the free edition, a licence, your Macs and app updates.
  9. Privacy and help: what leaves your Mac, crash reports, and where to ask.

The app's Help > Keyboard Shortcuts lists the single keys; the same list is in the last chapter.
